Needle Felting: Character Mug Rug Coasters and More
"Participants in this class will be able to accomplish a number of smaller projects.
The first is an adorable sheep mug rug coaster. You will learn how to sculpt using felting needles, No animals are harmed to create these adorable mug rugs! We will needle tiny locks of wool to cover the head and neck, lending a lot of authenticity to this character. A simple poking motion will shape the contours and special features, sculpting them into a three-dimensional shape. The second part of each project will walk you through the creation of the body, which will lie flat and be wide enough to accommodate a mug.

Another small project are these beautiful angels which are so enjoyable to make!
Needle felting is a technique that uses barbed needles to decorate a felt surface with design. We will combine simple design shapes and lots of color choices, to create beautifully unique dresses for each angel. Once the dress is complete, we will assemble and add a hairstyle using locks of curly wool or braids. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned felter, this class offers lots of fun, guidance, tips and inspiration.
You may expect to get two (or three) of them completed during class.
If you prefer, and time permitting, there will be even MORE opportunity for a variety of animal mug rugs or other small projects to choose from. An endless bounty of inspiration as you immerse yourself in the craft of needle felting.
Both the beginner and experienced needle felter will have fun making these simple projects!

Needle Felting: Florentine Bird Tapestry
" Needle felting is a simple technique that uses barbed needles and carded wool to decorate a felt surface with design.

Simple design shapes and lots of colors combine to create a Florentine Bird Tapestry. We will all begin with a simple tree, bending its way to the top of the canvas. You will learn how to needle felt fanciful and elaborate flowers, simplistic singing birds, ferns, vines and leaves. Though we will all be working on the same theme, each tapestry will exhibit the unique and personal characteristics of the artist within you.
There will be many prompts to guide you with lots of inspiration for various flower clusters and birds plus an abundance of color choices. Working on the black background eliminates the need to outline and makes the design shapes and colors pop out.
Along the way, you will build your needling skills, gain design experience and experiment with color. Simple design shapes combine to create beautifully unique and personal folk art. While we needle, we can talk about inspiration, composition, color choices, needle varieties, fiber and many techniques and tricks are offered to keep your felting moving forward.
Beginners and experienced needle felters are welcome!

Needle Felting: Edge of the Field
Join me for this half day workshop to needle felt an 8" x 91/2" work of art (matted to 11" x 14") an autumn scene with sheep. When I "paint with wool" it's all about layering the colors and opening the roving up thin to allow lower layers to show through. It can look quite like a watercolor painting. Even though we will all be working the same basic design, each person's will be unique. It's part of the fun of creating art! Do not fear that "you aren't an artist" or you aren't experienced with needle felting, the basics are simple and I will lead you through step by step. You will leave with a completed and matted work of art. How cool is that?
